Life gets back to ‘near-normal’ at Bridport & District U3A

In general our members are telling us they feel reassured at the policy of asking all members to show, as they arrive at a meeting, one of two ways of evidence that they have a low risk of carrying Covid – double vaccination proof or notification in the last 48 hours from the NHS of a negative Self-Test.
Membership is on the rise again, the number of groups has now grown to over 60 and attendance at face-to-face activities is rising each month.
Zoom continues to be used for certain groups, and is proving extremely useful where a group cannot meet face-to-face for a particular reason, but well over 90% of all activities are now back to face-to-face sessions.
To help with the cost of booking external rooms or halls, the Committee has agreed to authorize the payment for these, subject to Treasurer approval, at 100% of the cost until the end of 2022.

How to undertake an NHS Covid-19 Self-Test

1. Obtain your ‘Covid-19 Self-Test Kit’ from any pharmacy, free.
2. Watch the 7-minute Youtube video by clicking HERE This takes you through, step by step a demonstration of exactly what you need to do.
3. Report the result of your test either verbally by phoning 119 or by following the process here;Report a rapid lateral flow test result - NHS – via www.gov.uk/report-covid19-result
If the result you report is negative the NHS will send you confirmation of this in a form in which you can show it to others – either to your mobile, or to your computer for printing off to show others.
If you have any question on how to handle Self-testing that cannot be answered by the NHS – or you would just like a chat about it – please call John Grantham at Bridport & District U3A on 07500-592906

Where are meetings held?

We have no fixed venue. Many small groups meet in members’ homes, whilst larger groups meet in various locations. Whatever the venue, we aim for good ventilation.

When do groups meet?

Groups generally meet on weekday mornings or afternoons, and a few meet in the evening.
